The LFA marks a watershed point for Lexus – its global debut marks the spectacular arrival of a new flagship for the F portfolio of Lexus performance models. A Lexus that single-handedly makes new boundaries to redefine the supercar for the 21st Century.
“From the very beginning of automobile history, supercars have represented dreams, hopes and aspirations,” clarified Haruhiko Tanahashi, chief engineer of the LFA’s development program. “For Lexus, a brand that aims to provide customers enlightened moments and memorable experiences, the development of a world-class supercar was an indispensable next step”.
That indispensable next step centered on the creation of a supercar that would deliver the supreme driving experience. To achieve this uncompromising goal, Tanahashi and his team made the LFA from scratch – a right clean-sheet design. And in a radical departure from standard Lexus development practice, they approached the LFA from a non-traditional angle, pushing their technological, material and engineering boundaries at every step.

The Audi R8 was initially equipped with a 4.2 litre V8 engine. Specifically, it is an all-aluminium alloy 32-valve (four valves per cylinder) petrol engine, utilising Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), and has a displacement of 4,163 cubic centimetres (254.0 cu in). It develops a motive power output of 420 metric horsepower (309 kW; 414 bhp) (Directive 80/1269/EEC), and generates 430 newton metres (317 ft·lbf) of torque, on 98 RON 'Super Unleaded' petrol. It is basically the same engine used in the Audi B7 RS4, but is modified to use dry sump lubrication system. This V8 is a highly reworked, high-revving variant of the existing 4.2 litre V8, but includes cylinder-direct fuel injection (Fuel Stratified Injection), and four valves per cylinder, instead of five (as used on the previous non-FSI variants). It also uses two chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank, and utilises variable valve timing for both inlet and exhaust camshafts.

The car received huge acclaim and rave reviews from many people as it completely revitalized the Chevrolet Camaro series. Then, in 1993, people witnessed the introduction of the fourth generation Chevrolet Camaro, which was developed on an updated F body platform. The lean and mean design is great for highway drives as well as parking in places where space is at a premium. From suburban parking lots to garages in homes, the overall size of the sports car is just about right. The cockpit design has been by those of fighter planes. The instrumental panel is purposeful at the same time being perfectly in sync with the overall aesthetics of the concept car. The luxurious interiors also reflect the same fetish for perfection for which Camaro is famed for. You can still find a hint of the first generation Camaros in the overall execution of the interior. Along with luxury, functionality also has been taken care off in a never before way.
The sports car features progressive rate springs as part of its rear suspension which means no more jarring drives. Ultra-smooth rides are a possibility with these suspensions along with the gas-pressurized dampers which are part of the features of this concept car. Adequate care has also been taken to offer a superior braking system. The four-wheel vented disc brake which comes with 14-inch rotors means that this sports car comes to a full halt even while cruising at high speeds and importantly, under all conditions.
